Privacy Policy
How this website handles your information — in plain English.
Effective date: July 14, 2026 · Last updated: September 8, 2026
What changed on September 8, 2026: all typefaces (including the ones inside our Avvo badges) are now served from our own website instead of Google Fonts or Avvo, and the Contact-page map loads only when you click to open it. These changes mean fewer third-party requests; nothing new is collected.
This policy describes what information the Law Office of Michael DeDecker (“we,” “us”) collects through this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers this website only — not information you share with us as a client, which is protected separately by attorney-client confidentiality and professional-responsibility rules.
The short version
- The only information we collect through this site is what you type into our contact form.
- The site sets no optional cookies unless you click Accept on the cookie banner. Declining — or ignoring the banner — changes nothing about how the site works.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not run advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
- Payments are handled entirely on our payment processor’s site; this website never sees your card details.
Information you give us: the contact form
Our contact form (on the homepage and the Contact page) asks for your name, email address, phone number (optional), the practice area you’re asking about, and your message. Submitting the form sends that information by email to our office (Contact@LawOfficeofDeDecker.com and Staff@LawOfficeofDeDecker.com) so we can respond. The website itself does not keep a copy in a database. The form also contains a hidden anti-spam field that no human ever fills in; it collects nothing from real visitors.
We use what you send us only to respond to your inquiry. Submitting the form does not create an attorney-client relationship, and you should not include sensitive details of your matter in a website form. Emails we receive are retained in our office email system for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and as our professional and record-keeping obligations require.
Payments
The “Make a Payment” links on this site go to our payment processor, LawPay (AffiniPay, LLC), at secure.lawpay.com. Your card or bank details are entered on LawPay’s site and processed under LawPay’s privacy policy. This website never sees, transmits, or stores your payment details.
Analytics — only if you accept
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages help visitors most. It loads only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline or ignore the banner, Google Analytics never loads, no analytics cookies are set, and the site works identically. If you accept and later change your mind, use the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer; declining removes the Google Analytics cookies this site can reach.
When enabled, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, your approximate region, and your device and browser type, and sets the cookies listed below. Google LLC processes this data on our behalf; see Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies this site can set
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| dedecker_consent | Strictly functional | Remembers your Accept/Decline choice on the cookie banner so we don’t ask again. Set when you make a choice (or automatically set to “declined” if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal). | ~180 days |
| _ga | Analytics — only after Accept | Google Analytics: distinguishes returning visitors. | ~2 years |
| _ga_D8K3NN6Q87 | Analytics — only after Accept | Google Analytics: keeps track of your visit session for this site’s Analytics property. | ~2 years |
That is the complete list. The site sets no advertising, social-media, or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third-party content the site loads
On an ordinary page view, everything is served from this website. Two kinds of content come from third parties, and only when you ask for them. Loading them shares your IP address and standard browser information with that provider, as any web request does:
- Google Maps — the interactive map of our office on the Contact page. It is requested from Google only after you click “Load interactive map”; until then nothing is sent to Google.
- Social feeds — the Social page uses the Smash Balloon plugin to display our TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook posts. When feeds are connected, images and video in those feeds load from those platforms’ servers.
The site’s typefaces are served from our own website, not from a font service. Links to our profiles (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, Yelp, Avvo, Google Maps, the State Bar of California) and to LawPay take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Who processes data for us
- Google LLC — analytics (only with your consent) and the Contact-page map (only if you load it).
- AffiniPay, LLC (LawPay) — payment processing, on their own site.
- Our website hosting and email providers — serve this site and deliver contact-form email.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your choices and rights
You can use this site fully without accepting any optional cookies. You may also ask us:
- What we have — to tell you what information about you we hold from this website (typically only your contact-form emails);
- To correct it — if something we hold is wrong;
- To delete it — we will delete website-originated information unless we are required to keep it (for example, under our professional-responsibility or record-keeping obligations).
To make a request, email Staff@LawOfficeofDeDecker.com or call (916) 707-5917. So that we don’t act on someone else’s request about you, we will verify your identity — usually by confirming details of your prior contact with us from the email address or phone number involved. We will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, this site treats it as an automatic “Decline”: analytics never loads and the cookie banner doesn’t appear. Older “Do Not Track” (DNT) browser signals have no settled meaning, and this site does not respond to DNT — but because analytics is off by default until you accept, the practical effect is the same as if it did.
Children
This website is intended for adults seeking legal services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site.
Changes to this policy
If we change what this website collects or how it is used, we will update this policy and its “Last updated” date before the change takes effect. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page for a reasonable period.
